And I'm Off Again!

Hey Folks! It's been a while since I've written a post, but then it's been a while since I've been anywhere other than Ontario! My last trip was slightly more exotic, but this one will also be interesting. I'm off to Anchorage, Alaska on Monday afternoon, where I will stay for 2.5 weeks. This is supposedly the best time of year to go to Alaska, and I hope to make the best of it! I will have two weekends, and two extra days at the end to see a bit of long as I haven't got work to do on the weekends! I've been as far North as Anchorage before (in Finland) but that was 16 years ago or so (man I'm getting old!). It will be neat to see how light it is at night.

Why Alaska you might ask?! It doesn't seem like a developing country does it? Well, Cowater has an office up in Alaska, and they do some design of small water systems in rural areas. I'm going up there to help with a proposal for one of these systems. It will definitely by busy trying to organize and prepare the proposal in just two weeks, but such is the way in consulting.

I'm told to expect what we would call cool weather - highs in the mid to high teens, and lows of around 10C. Forecast is calling for rain almost everyday of the next I will be packing a raincoat!

Stay tuned for stories and photos from Alaska ... I've got to go pack (did I mention I was only asked to go on Fri afternoon?!).

didn't see the albino beaver

Submitted by Meg on Thu, 2008-07-10 01:28.

I didn't see said albino beaver, but perhaps that's because I was really very tired (it was 3am to my body and I didn't sleep on the plane), or because Dave was seeing things when he went through! I will make sure to take a look on my way out. I did see, today, in a hotel (not mine) lobby a stuffed polar bear, grizzly bear and muskox, which I will be returning to take photos of. Makes you realize how big those things really are!

More to come soon on Anchorage ... haven't seen a lot yet, but there's always things to write about!
